His name is Cakes the Killa, I added the "Fucking" because he is gracefully polite, but straight to the point. Guess being polite but straight to the point can you to atleast second base with your neighborhood crush, or office valentine. Cake hails from New Jersey and represents Downtown Mayhem. He called my question about the "family" a little suspect. I appreciate the honesty. Family runs thicker than blood. Family is in the Spirit. Next time I will deconstruct to give the next artist a better understanding of our meaning of family, love, hate, and so on....

When did you find your art, that is music?

Rapping for me was never something I thought I could do. Being a gay male it just didn't fit into the scheme of things. Growing up poetry was a big form of creative expression for me but as I entered high school poems weren't necessarily "cool." One day I saw these dudes rapping during lunch my sophomore year and I thought, "Wow that sucked." From then on it was like a mental mission to outshine every dude that thought they could rap during lunchtime. The rest is history.

Inspirations, and why?

Oddly enough I don't really consider myself a big fan of rap or hip hop. If I ain't bumping some disco or house it's some indie shit from overseas. The few people I look up who are major would be Remy Ma, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, ODB, Jadakiss, and Camron (Just to name a few). However, I'm more inspired by the up and coming stars around me like Dai Burger, Rip the Ruler, and Terry Lovette since we are the new generation of music.

Cinema, porn, Tumblr, anime, adult swim, and photography are also huge inspirations for me. Pictures captured by Dexter Jones of Sirreal photography keep my inspired constantly. These types of media are fueling the songs that will be one my first mixtape Easy Bake Oven which will be out soon.

Who are you, think you are?

I am Cakes D. Killa. friends call me Cakes to be funny (among other things) I don't think I'm anything but I know I'm a full time college student, fashion designer, and fire spitter. I'm Just an all around stand up guy. Now that I think about it my Tumblr is me. Thats where the majority of my thoughts are.


Family, do you love them?

I have a huge family but I have a small amount of loved ones. The ones I do love know I love them. That question is mad sus.


Favorite song, why?

This is such an unfair question. There no accurate way to even answer this. How about I just say my favorite mixtape out now is Downtown Mayhem Vol. 1 and you would be a lame to not download it and support new music.

Swag, what does

Swag is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. Swag for me might be a college degree but swag for you might be an entire outfit from Rugby or a gucci belt. Swag just gotta come from inside you. I can tell you this though if you find yourself trendy you don't have swag, that's just a no go.
